Collection: Kazakhstan Jade

Jadeite jade (also called 'fei cui') from Itmurundy, Kazakhstan. Kazakh jade is characterized by it's intermixing of bright green and grey color, it's large crystal size, and occasional breccia. Much of the Kazakh deposit is yet to be explored, and new characteristics are being found in this jade every day.

At this time, Kazakhstan is producing affordable grades of jade jewelry, mined for only part of the year by a small team consisting of ~10 people.

Facts about Kazakh Jade:

  • The jade coming from this deposit is believed to be geologically the oldest jadeite jade being actively mined, estimated to be 2-3x older than Burmese jade.
  • Kazakhstan is called the "Land of the Wanderers," and is home to the newest commercial jade source to hit the US market in a significant way, having only started producing in 2025.
